The Glass Room is an immersive ‘tech store with a twist’ that disrupts our relationship with technology and encourages visitors to make informed choices about their online life.
At first glance, it offers the latest in digital consumer products, such as the newest tablet, fitness tracker or facial recognition software. But as visitors go inside, The Glass Room prompts reflection, experimentation, and play, and they find there is nothing for sale.
Curated by Tactical Tech and produced by Mozilla, The Glass Room, was attended by over 10,000 visitors in New York City last year. This autumn, the pop-up programme and exhibition will be hosted in central London.
Have you been profiled yet? Who finds your email irresistible? Or have you just lost sight of how much you are feeding the algorithms? At the Data Detox Bar, their trained Ingeniuses are on hand to reveal the intimate details of your current ‘data bloat’; who capitalises on it; and the simple steps to a lighter data count.
The three week programme will include talks, hands-on workshops and themed events from dating to politics. It will host 40 objects and animations with a new programme and new commissions to reflect the UK context.
