A new series of open parliamentary sessions that explore the future of representation, governance and democracy. Over a series of four events, Superflux are inviting speakers and citizens to consider the future of representative rule.
The second event in Superflux's Future(s) of Power series will explore the influence and impact of artistic power to wider society. In this session they will talk to artists and cultural producers about how their work has enabled them to engage with bigger societal concerns. They want to create a debate about the tools, tactics and strategies they apply in an attempt to radically challenge and provoke change. How does their success and exposure empower participation in political discourse? Is there an adequate culture of responsibility that comes with artistic power? How can culture be effectively utilised to shift the status quo? Does the artistic community wield its power to the best of its ability?
