World’s first holographic experience to bring families together
Sometimes technology, mediums and life mix together to blur traditional boundaries and make cool moments happen. Harrison’s Fund has teamed up with pioneering digital and technology partner including MIND FASHION's experts DoubleMe as well as Orbital Media and Squire to showcase how advancements in holographic mixed reality technology can revolutionlise family communication, from anywhere in the world.
The technology is brought to life through a film about the real-life story of a young boy and his grandpa. In the film we meet Harrison, an 11 year old boy who suffers from Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, a genetic disorder that results in muscle deterioration. Because of Harrison’s condition, his movement is increasingly restricted making it difficult for him to see his Grandpa.
The meeting of grandson and grandpa becomes possible by marrying Microsoft’s HoloLens, the self-contained mixed reality glasses with DoubleMe, the world’s first HoloPortal™ that converts 2D videos into dynamic 3D models in real-time. Together, the technologies enable users like Harrison to see a hologram of their loved one such as their grandfather and have a conversation as if they were in the same room.
